~*Nothing against the otherkin community on here; but this shit is so blasphemous and disrespectful.*~ 🌸

This is very likely a troll message. It is highly frowned upon in the godkin / actuallydeific community to ask for any sort of worship. Even then, most godkin of currently-worshipped deities are smart enough not to address devotees as personal servants, because we don’t have the power to back up our words – we’re physically human and all that.

I suggest you block if any of these show up again, ninety-to-one it’s just someone trying to get a rise out of you.

Is it just me or is the kin community less trusting than it used to be 3 or 4 years ago?:/ I remember when I first joined I got followers like immediately and most of them talked to me later on.>.> I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I’ve grown as a person and didnt have an about page and stuff like that.:/ I kept up with enough kin discourse over the years to get that a lot of bullying from outside groups was involved within that time frame.:( Is that why the community isn’t as close anymore or is it just me remembering all the good stuff from age 9 or 10 and not enough of the bad stuff?:/

It probably is less trusting due to more antis, trolls, and tumblrkin showing up. With any new person you meet, you get to play roulette of “are they faking, do they think otherkinity is a coping mechanism / roleplay, or are they for real”. Then you’ve got antis in there, so most of us are now rather hesitant to interact with people, especially younger ones.

But it wouldn’t surprise me if there were other reasons contributing to it, either. I haven’t been here for four years (think I’m coming up on three?) but I do distinctly recall things being more open when I first showed up.

Oh.:/ Wow then I picked a pretty bad time to rejoin the community.:/ Oh well.:/ As long as I avoid discourse then hopefully I’ll be kept away from that side of Tumblr.>.>

Honestly, it’s more like you picked the wrong place. Most of these problems go poof once you join a forum. You’d do best staying with the older members of the community and learning how to tell if someone’s tumblrkin (if you don’t know the term, it’s effectively people who think kin = otherhearted, copinglinking, a type of roleplay, etc. They’re very difficult), but avoiding discourse is a pretty good idea, too. It’s less of a hassle that way.

Look I like to keep an open mind and this has been plaguing me for a while it might b bc I’m not a kin myself but I don’t really understand it. I’ve looked for an explanation but have felt unsatisfied with the responses I’ve gotten. so I ask you, how does it feel? how did u find out? how do u deal?

anti-kin-cringe:

It feels like me. I’ve always been me, and I just do the best I can.

How do I deal, personally? I stay out of the literal alcohol and develop an addiction towards the metaphorical alcohol.

@ other people who use both ‘-hearted’ and ‘synpath’ terminology for themselves: what’s the difference for you?

-hearted is for the things you’d classify under therian / otherkin, synpath is for characters and entities instead of concepts / species / whathaveyou. It’s a linguistic thing. Foxhearted sounds all right, but Harry-Potter-hearted Does Not, so thus Harry Potter would be a synpath.

Functionally they’re synonyms, but it’s more a linguistic difference than a functional / definition-relating one.

I like this. I’ve been struggling with the distinctions myself. But this works so well.

Hey, don’t take how I read the definition as fact until you’ve looked it up yourself and if you’ve come to the same conclusion. I don’t remember the last time I actually looked up the definition of synpath, so I mighta gotten it a little warped over time.

Question for ppl who actually feel they are kin with whoever or whatever:

When others say “I’m kin with x” or similar but aren’t serious about it, does it offend or bother you?

Yeah, it bothers me when people misuse our terminology and act like it’s some odd fad. There’s well placed kin jokes (“I feel bad for anyone whose fictotype’s a guy named Fuc”), and then there’s being disrespectful. The latter generally gets a block.

I agree. Kin jokes usually give me a good chuckle, and it’s no fun to take everything 100% seriously, but folks who claim to be kin either for fun or who misunderstand the concept and argue definitions make me want to stick my head in the freezer for a good while.

My idea of a joke is the fact I noticed that my kintypes, when listed chronologically, are also listed alphabetically by surname. That’s funny.

Wishkin throwing a fit because they aren’t otherkin and nobody wants them here? Nah, that’s just irritating and I will get snappy over that. I didn’t ask to be otherkin and I never really wanted this, and they’re being downright disrespectful.
