There were these special big random looking stones covered in moss on top of a small hill at our local forest.

They’re called women’s stone and myths say many different theories how those big stones made it up this hill.

One legend said that when the local river Rhein overflowed and people fled up this hill to build altar on top of the stones. They sacrificed the priestess’ favorite white horse to make Wotan stop the flood.

Another myth said that priestesses dressed in white clothes celebrated pagan sacrificial feats and worded spells at this location. The altar was ripped apart during Christianisation.

The last legend tells that seven woman were spellbound into seven stones as legal action.
