karoutrash mentioned you in a post

@shadowfae I kind of understand. They’re me, I’m then, but I’m so fucking overprotective about it because others treat the character so lightly and don’t understand how much it means to me and they try to fight me on it? And they will think I’m an idiot if I say I’m kin with that character.

I actually feel like I was him ~200 years ago, like my previous life or sometimes that that’s just me.
Idk if that makes sense, I’m rambling

Yeah, that makes sense. I found out pretty much last night why I felt the way I did about a character from a series I barely know, and I’m just as miffed.

But you can’t control the fandom. And telling them to stop acting a certain way because you personally don’t like it? That’s generally what we call asshole territory. You’re allowed to feel the way you do about it, but it isn’t in your jurisdiction to tell them to stop.

However, you definitely can ask them to tag it so you can blacklist it, and you can most certainly block those who won’t as well as create your own fanfic, fanart, and other stuff.

Of course they’re gonna fight you on it. You’re trying to tell them what to do for pretty much no reason. I’d fight you on it, too. Best you can do, and all you should be doing, is getting a blacklist going and making it clear to your followers if you so wish to how things are.

tl;dr I completely understand, you’re allowed to be overprotective, but you’re not allowed to tell people what to do, so blacklist and block as needed.

If that helps a little more? (And yes, you can’t reply on a sideblog.)
