As a white (English / Italian with a dash of other stuff, primarily Irish and Yugoslav) Canadian literally living in Vancouver; white Canadians didn’t even have a culture to start with. I literally don’t have one. We don’t have any traditional foods or holidays or hell, anything. The best we can do is an accent that sounds like an American news reporter (or so I’m told, I’ve never heard American news reporters).

There can’t be a genocide of culture if there wasn’t a culture to start with.

And secondly, Canada isn’t exactly my homeland. My mother’s Italian family “settled” (I don’t know the exact history, but I’m 90% sure Native folks were probably already there) an area of Ontario, and my dad’s grandparents immigrated over from Yugoslavia. (Why English folks lived in Yugoslavia, I don’t know.)

I can literally trace my father’s surname back to one specific town in England. There is no genocide of white folks. We weren’t here first. We don’t have any culture to speak of. Oh, and we’re not being systematically killed. I should know, my second cousin’s the prime minister. Thus, there’s no genocide.
